Bulk supply of genuine Japanese food-grade TREHA® trehalose, manufactured by Nagase Viita Co., Ltd., formerly Hayashibara, for food manufacturers, commercial kitchens and other high-volume professional users.

Trehalose UK can readily supply orders from over 200kg up to 1 tonne, with larger commercial volumes available through our close working relationship with Nagase’s distribution network.

Supplied in 20kg commercial sacks, a full one-tonne order comprises 50 × 20kg sacks.

Since 2001, Trehalose UK has specialised in genuine Japanese TREHA®, supplying professional users ranging from independent chefs and bakeries to some of the UK’s best-known Michelin-starred chefs and larger commercial customers.

TREHA® is about 40% as sweet as sucrose, allowing manufacturers and food professionals to control sweetness while taking advantage of its useful functional properties in baking, frozen foods, confectionery, savoury products and commercial food manufacture.

Bulk TREHA® for food manufacture

TREHA® is used across a broad range of professional and commercial food applications, including:

  • bakery and bread production
  • pastry
  • confectionery
  • chocolate and ganache
  • ice cream, gelato and sorbet
  • frozen and freeze-thaw foods
  • prepared foods
  • savoury products
  • recipe and product development
  • commercial food manufacture

Its mild sweetness makes TREHA® particularly useful when formulators need sugar solids and functional properties without introducing the same level of sweetness as sucrose.

It can be used to help manage sweetness, texture, moisture and freezing performance across a wide range of formulations.

Frozen-food applications

TREHA® is particularly valuable in frozen-food development.

Hayashibara testing found approximately 45% less ice-crystal growth with trehalose than sucrose under the stated experimental conditions, helping explain its use in ice cream, gelato, sorbet and other products where controlling ice-crystal growth and maintaining frozen texture are important.

For commercial manufacturers, these properties make TREHA® particularly relevant to products exposed to freezing, frozen storage and freeze-thaw cycles.

Bulk supply from 200kg to 1 tonne+

1 tonne — 50 × 20kg sacks

Why buy bulk TREHA® from Trehalose UK?

Genuine Japanese TREHA®

We supply genuine TREHA® manufactured in Japan by Nagase Viita, formerly Hayashibara, with clear provenance and manufacturer identification.

Trehalose specialists since 2001

Trehalose is our speciality rather than one product among hundreds.

We have supplied TREHA® in the UK since 2001 and combine specialist product knowledge with experience serving home cooks, professional kitchens, Michelin-starred chefs and commercial users.

UK-based specialist supply

Buying through Trehalose UK provides a UK point of contact for quantities, availability, delivery requirements and practical product enquiries.

Commercial quantities without unnecessary complexity

Whether you require ten sacks or a full tonne, contact us directly and we can discuss the most appropriate supply arrangement rather than requiring you to purchase multiple individual packs through the online shop.

Agriculture, research and specialist applications

Trehalose also has growing applications beyond conventional food manufacture, including agriculture, plant science, cosmetics, biological research and specialist technical formulations.

Different applications may require different trehalose grades. Food-grade TREHA® should not automatically be assumed to be interchangeable with specialist products such as TREHALOSE Agricultural Grade or TREHALOSE 100 for cosmetics.

For agricultural, cosmetic, research or technical requirements, contact sales@trehalose.co.uk with details of your intended application and required quantity. We can help identify the appropriate supply route.

Bulk pricing and delivery

Bulk TREHA® is supplied on a quotation basis.

Pricing will depend on quantity, delivery requirements and whether the order forms part of an ongoing commercial requirement.

For orders of more than 200kg, please contact:

sales@trehalose.co.uk

Please include your required quantity, delivery location and, where relevant, intended application so that we can provide the most appropriate quotation.

Storage

Store securely sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, moisture and strong odours.

Commercial users should ensure that sacks are stored in appropriate dry food-storage conditions and protected from physical damage.

Need a smaller quantity?

If you do not require bulk supply, TREHA® is also available directly from our online shop in:

1kg — ideal for home cooks, chefs and product trials
2.5kg — ideal for regular users and professional kitchens
20kg — our standard commercial sack for higher-volume professional use
